Aviation and Aerospace SHSM
The SHSM-Aviation and Aerospace enables students to navigate the ever-changing nature of aviation and aerospace, the complexity of supply chain dynamics, and the accelerated pace of change in the aerospace sector.
Core industries in this sector include:
- maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for aircraft, engines, avionics, systems, and equipment
- design and manufacturing of commercial aircraft, engines, systems, avionics, equipment, and components
- flight operations (e.g., pilot training, airport services, air traffic control, and space and equipment handling)
The Aviation & Aerospace SHSM is offered at Sir Winston Churchill.
Bundle of Grade 11 and 12 Courses
- Four sector-specific courses such as Aviation, Transportation and Manufacturing
- Three other required courses: English, Math, and Science or Business or Canadian and World Studies
- Two Cooperative Education credits in an aviation-related placement

Coop placements could include working at places like John C Munro Airport, Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, and small engine repair shops.
