Important Information: Immunizations

Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS) will be enforcing the Immunization of School Pupils Act (1990) during the 2025-2026 school year. This Ontario law requires all students under 18 to have an up-to-date immunization record or a valid exemption on file with their local public health unit. The goal is to protect community health and prevent the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases in schools.

What Families Need to Know:

  • Students with incomplete vaccine records will have received screening letters on November 14 outlining what is missing and the deadline for compliance.
  • If records or exemptions are not submitted by the specified date, students will receive a suspension notice.

Elementary

Letters Sent: November 14, 2025

Submit Records to Public Health by: January 30, 2026

Suspension Notices: Week of February 6, 2026

Suspension Period: March 12 – April 20, 2026
